Hambleton Leisure Centre Project

Whats Happening?

Council members have approved a £2.5m major refit of Hambleton Leisure Centre. In addition to the Council’s capital commitment, Sport England is also providing £213k to the project.

What will the project include?

At our present early design stage, we are envisaging: a new gym (70 stations); dance studio; activity studio; new pool changing village; new gym changing; improved sports hall changing; toning suite and smaller additional improvements.

Will there be any closure?

We will only close individual areas where this is essential on a basis that minimises disruption to customers. We will appoint contractors who are experienced in delivering improvements whilst services remain open, where feasible. We will provide lots of advance notice to customers of any service disruption.

When will the improvements be completed?

At present we are right at the start of the project, with some initial ideas and concepts. We are working to a timescale of an opening in Spring 2018. Our next step, now we have the funding in place, is to appoint a development partner to assist in the project. This company will be appointed by the end of this year, until after this appointment no changes will take place with the service.

How can I contribute my suggestions/views?

As the project progresses customers will be consulted on their views. This will be conducted at the centre and online. If you have any comments at this stage, please provide them to us by emailing; leisure.website@hambleton.gov.uk

How will I be kept up to date with progress?

Updated information will be posted online, as well as on Facebook and Twitter. Storyboards and updates will also be displayed around the centre.
