Online Payment Maintenance Civica, our provider of online payment services is undertaking maintenance which requires downtime of our Hosted CivicaPay systems. Bedale Leisure Centre development FAQs

As a customer at Bedale Leisure Centre, we want to make sure you are kept up to date with the development project, including the closure of the facility.

What’s happening?

Hambleton District Council have committed £314k in order to improve Bedale Leisure Centre.

The council are dedicated to investing in the local community at a time when health and wellbeing has never been more important as we continue our battle against COVID. The scheme demonstrates our commitment to provide a leisure centre which is up to date, accessible and provides a positive experience.

What does the development include?

  • Complete refurbishment of the gym including installation of new state-of-the-art gym equipment from TechnoGym.
  • Complete refurbishment of the group fitness studio including new TechnoGym group cycling bikes.
  • A refreshed sauna area including a new sauna cabin.
  • Improvements to the accessible changing room.

When does the project start and when will the improvements be completed?

Bedale Leisure Centre’s improvement works begins on the 15 November and the work is expected to be completed in January 2022.

How can I contribute my views?

As the project progresses, we will share plans for gym equipment, fitness classes etc. for comment/views. We will communicate how you can share these views soon.

How will I be kept up to date with progress? Updates will be posted here and via our Zest app and Facebook page. You can download the Zest app via the App Store or Google Play, search Zest@hambleton

I am a Direct Debit Freedom member, How does the closure affect my membership?

You have 3 options with regard you direct debit membership:

  1. Move to a swim membership (£28 Adult £21 Concession per month).
  2. Continue to use your Freedom membership at Northallerton, Stokesley, and Thirsk and Sowerby Leisure Centres. Premium fee applies to Northallerton and Thirsk which can be added for free for the period of works if you let us know.
  3. Freeze your membership for the duration of the works. Please Contact membershipchange@hambleton.gov.uk to let us know which option you would like to choose by 08 November 2021. If you contact us after this date your current direct debit payment will still be taken.

Once we reopen, customers first Direct Debit membership payments will be updated to correct any payments taken on 01 November 2021.

I have an annual membership or a Zest Discount Card - will this be extended to account for the closure period?

All annual memberships and Zest Discount Cards will be extended by the length of the full period that the leisure centre undergoes the works if you do not wish to use any of our other centres. Please inform membershipchange@hambleton.go.uk if you wish to put your membership on hold.

My child attends swimming lessons and/or has a Junior membership. How does the closure affect us?

Our Learn2 Swim programme will run as normal and therefore no action required.

I am a Direct Debit Swim member, how does the closure affect my membership?

The swimming pool will remain open as per timetable whilst we make these improvements so you can continue swim as normal. Please be aware there is the possibility of some minimal disruption.

What if I attend with a school or a club?

Schools and clubs have been notified regarding the leisure centre improvements and will contact you separately if necessary.

What about the All Weather Pitch?

The pitch will remain open as normal.

I attend Take That Step, what is happening with the scheme?

Take That Step will operate virtually/remotely as it did during lockdown and under COVID restrictions. Any changes will be communicated via your TTS Health and Wellbeing Officer.
