Planning Technician

Salary £25,680

Full Time 37 hours

We are seeking to fill a Planning Technician vacancy in the Development Management Team. The role plays an important part in ensuring the delivering of Hambleton District Councils, high standard of quality, customer responsiveness and performance. In addition, great customer care 

You will be required to assess planning applications and provide planning advice.  You will need to be good at assessing plans and policy documents. The work will also involve making site visits on your own throughout the district, advising on the need for planning permission and offering advice to customers in writing, face-to-face, and on the phone.

You will work with colleagues, consultees, and elected members to enable you to prepare written recommendations for decisions by the Development Manager.  You will need to have knowledge of English planning legislation.

The ability to interpret architectural plans and other documents is essential, to enable you to maintain accurate records and show drive in progressing cases to meet the required deadlines.

Located within the picturesque Vale of York, Hambleton is the second largest district in North Yorkshire. With many residents living in outlying villages, Hambleton is a largely rural district, with a quarter of its population living in the five historic market towns of Bedale, Easingwold, Northallerton, Stokesley and Thirsk. The local area is well known for its stunning landscape, with the Hambleton Hills, between Helmsley and Sutton Bank, and the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Hambleton has excellent road, rail, and air links; plenty of good quality housing and very good local schools.

You will need a full driving licence and access to a car during normal working hours.
