Welcome - it is an exciting time to join us
The eight District, Borough & County Council’s in North Yorkshire are coming together in April 2023 to form a new organisation, one unified Council.
This is an exciting time to join us as we make the transition to one new Council, coming together to boost the services we deliver for our residents; so join us today and work in a rewarding job where you can help the people of North Yorkshire by providing vital community services.
One unified organisation gives us the chance to further focus on the way we work, having one point of contact for all Council services across North Yorkshire. This will be simpler for our customers and will help us to continue delivering good customer service for all Council matters. We will have local delivery sites across the county, so our jobs will be based in the places where the work needs to be – this means there will be local job opportunities close to where people live, all across North Yorkshire.
The new unitary council will offer employees a positive, supportive, flexible and inclusive working environment, committed to delivering high quality and effective services to our residents, communities and visitors.
Whilst you are applying for a vacancy with an individual District, Borough or the County Council, if successful, you will become an employee of this council only up to March 2023. From April 2023 your employment contract will migrate to a newly formed unitary Council. Whilst the change to form one new organisation can bring the feeling of uncertainty, the vast majority of staff will be unaffected.
All current and future staff should not worry, in joining us you will have job security, more so than many other employers can offer.
All our vacancies are advertised on our website and on NYCC’s jobs and careers website. From 1 April 2023, all vacancies for the new North Yorkshire Council can be found here.
