Tour de Yorkshire 2018

Hambleton is set to welcome thousands of cyclists into the district in May when it once more plays host to the Tour de Yorkshire.

The tour will head through three of the market towns – Bedale, Northallerton and Thirsk – as the riders journey from Richmond to Scarborough on Saturday 5 May.

It will be the third day of the annual ‘tour’ which this year will be staged over four days for the first time - and takes in huge swathes of North Yorkshire.

The stage starts in Richmond taking in Crakehall, Bedale, Morton on Swale, Ainderby Steeple, Northallerton, Thirsk and Sutton Under Whitestonecliffe before climbing up Sutton Bank and heading out of the Hambleton district to end in Scarborough.

Tour de Yorkshire 2016

The 2016 Tour de Yorkshire visited Hambleton on May 1 weaving its way through Great Ayton, Stokesley, Hutton Rudby, Northallerton, Thirsk and Sutton under Whitestonecliffe before riders headed up Sutton Bank and a finish in Scarborough.

Thousands of people lined the streets across the district, cheering on the cyclists and taking part in the activities that communities had organized. There was bunting everywhere, land art in every town, live music, street food and big screens.
