Two special parkruns are taking place over the festive period in Northallerton.
First up on Christmas Day at 9 am is an adults run with a distance of 5K followed by a Junior parkrun on New Years Day at 10am with a distance of 2K.
“Some people can struggle with loneliness at this time of year,” said Sarah Stringer – Parkun Event Director.
“Our Parkruns are very friendly and welcoming and we would love to welcome new runners and volunteers who are looking to fill their time as well as our regulars.”
Both runs take place on the fields adjacent to Northallerton Leisure Centre and are free.
“Parkrun has been fantastically well supported since day one,” added David Earl – Development Officer – Health and Wellbeing.
“In addition to the runners, there is a wonderful dedicated team of volunteers who work tirelessly, not only on the day, but each week on the build up to the run. Without them the parkrun wouldn’t be as successful as it is now.
“It’s an amazing gesture for the team to dedicate their Christmas Day and New Years Day mornings to enable the runs to happen.”
- The regular parkruns takes place each Saturday (Adults) and Sunday (Juniors) on the fields around Northallerton Leisure Centre. The runs start at 9am with a pre run briefing just beforehand.
