Subscriptions now open for 2019/20 garden waste service

Subscriptions for Hambleton’s 2019/20 garden waste service are now open for residents.
New and existing customers can sign up for the £35 a year fortnightly collection service at hambleton.gov.uk
It is year three of the subscription service which last year saw more than 50% of the districts properties enrol and almost 22,000 licences were bought with over 800 residents buying multiple licences.
“We have been delighted with the take up for this service – and hope our residents are keen to stay on board, especially as the annual charge is remaining unchanged,” said Cabinet Member, Councillor Stephen Watson.
“At £35 a year per bin we believe it is excellent value for money and we hope everyone will renew their licence early to be ready for the start of the 2019 collection year.”
The last garden waste collections for 2018 were in November and will re-start week Mid-February. After a 12 month gap, Christmas trees will once again be collected from subscribers in January either week commencing 7 or 14. Residents are encouraged to check their bin collection days using the councils website. Trees must be chopped up and placed inside the bin with the lid closed – trees left at the roadside or hanging out of bins will not be collected.
For more information or to subscribe visit hambleton.gov.uk or call 01609 779977.
- Properties participating in the current service must not remove their existing (blue) licences until the final collection in March 2019. Bins not displaying the correct licences will not be emptied.
- Residents subscribing for the 2019/20 now and up until 15 February should receive their new (orange) licences by 1 March – if not they should contact the council – residents purchasing after 15 February will receive licences within 10 working days - they should be attached to their bin from 1 April 2019.
