Hambleton’s civic head helped one of the district’s oldest resident’s blow out her birthday candles this month!
Betty Parminter celebrated her 101st birthday surrounded by friends and family.
Born in Epsom, Surrey she lived in Sussex for 30 years where her late husband, Ken, was an estate agent and auctioneer. They moved to Northallerton six years ago to be near family. She has two sons, Ian and the late Clive, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Betty has always had a keen interest in haberdashery and as well as being a quilting expert used to make all her own clothes. She travelled all over the world with her husband where she indulged her hobby as a keen photographer and was a member of the WI for over 30 years.
