Santa took advantage of a brand new shopping scheme when he visited Northallerton this week.

He used the ‘ShopAppy’ initiative to collect some of his precious parcels.

‘’ brings local shops and products together online to enable customers to spend closer to home.  It promotes independent retailers - vital for market towns where traders are having to compete with large chains.

Under the scheme shoppers place their orders on the ShopAppy website with each store picking and bagging the order ready for collection – either at individual shops or at one central point in the evening.

The scheme, which is being supported by Hambleton District Council, can be accessed on and is now available in Thirsk and Northallerton.
