Hambleton is set to welcome thousands of cyclists into the district next year when it once more plays host to the Tour de Yorkshire.
The tour will head through three of the market towns – Bedale, Northallerton and Thirsk – as the riders journey from Richmond to Scarborough on Saturday 5 May.
It will be the third day of the ‘tour’ which will be staged over four days for the first time and takes in huge swathes of North Yorkshire.
Hambleton councillors say they will make sure the cyclists have a day to remember.
“Having some of the world’s top riders coming through our beautiful district is very exciting,” said Leader of the Council, Councillor Mark Robson.
“Once again we will be able to showcase everything that Hambleton has on offer and give a warm North Yorkshire welcome not just to the riders and their teams but to the thousands of people that will be cheering them on.”
The stage starts in Richmond taking in Crakehall, Bedale, Morton on Swale, Ainderby Steeple, Northallerton, Thirsk and Sutton Under Whitestonecliffe before climbing up Sutton Bank and heading out of the Hambleton district to end in Scarborough.
