Northallerton parkrun staged its hundredth run
Published on Thursday, 29th June 2017
Almost 150 runners many of who donned their onesies (100sies) helped celebrate Northallerton’s 100th parkrun in style last weekend (24 June)
Well-earned refreshment was provided by Herriot Hospice Homecare along with a specially commissioned ‘Happy 100th parkrun’ cake.
“It was fantastic to see everyone having such a great time” said David Earl – Development Officer – Health and Wellbeing.
“The parkrun has been fantastically well supported since day one. In addition to the runners, there is a wonderful dedicated team of volunteers who work tirelessly, not only on the day, but each week on the build up to the run. Without them the parkrun wouldn’t be as successful as it is now.
“Since it started 1,957 different runners have taken part, 224 different clubs have been represented, 1,782 personal bests have been recorded and over 41,195km has been covered!”
The parkrun is free and takes place each Saturday on the fields around Northallerton Leisure Centre. The run starts at 9am with a pre run briefing just beforehand.
