Three week warning for garden waste

Householders have just three weeks to sign up for the start of a new garden waste collection scheme.

And to remind them to complete their subscriptions before the service kicks in next month (April), stickers are being put on household wheelie bins this week.

They detail the information needed to join the scheme – from April only households that pay £35 per year per green bin will have their garden waste collected on a fortnightly basis.

But residents must complete a subscription form in order to receive a licence for their bin – only bins displaying a valid licence will be emptied.   They can have several bins – but each one costs the annual £35 fee and for requests of more than three bins a site visit might be needed.  And for people with small gardens there is the opportunity to share bins.

To sign up log on to hambleton.gov.uk and follow the links on the home page.  Alternatively  contact the council on 01609 779977 or call into a council office in Northallerton, Easingwold or Stokesley.  Householders can join the scheme at any point in the year but the £35 fee relates to collections from April to March and there will be no discount for joining mid year.
