Northallerton’s new free running group in is proving to be a shining success !
The Neon Newbies, part of Hambleton’s ‘Running Hub’ programme, has attracted between 30 and 40 runners per week since it started two weeks ago.
Aimed at complete novices to improvers, the runs are open to everyone aged 14 or over and is led by an England Athletics qualified coach.
“You may have thought about taking up running, but don’t know where to start,” said David Earl, Hambleton District Council’s Development Officer – Health and Wellbeing.
“Or you maybe don’t want to run alone, especially with the evenings getting darker. The sessions will help you get started alongside other like-minded ‘Newbies’ and guide you on your running journey - whilst having fun at the same time. There is already a huge buzz around the new group and some runners are looking to graduate to the ‘Neon Nights’ community running group who run between five to six miles per run.”
The two mile runs take place every Monday evening from 5:30 – 6:30pm starting at Hambleton Leisure Centre, Northallerton
