Armed Forces celebrated in Hambleton
Hambleton District Council has marked the start of National Armed Forces Day celebrations today (Monday 20 June).
Deputy Council Chairman, Councillor Mrs Bridget Fortune raised the special flag at the Civic Centre in Northallerton.
She was joined for the first time in two years by veterans, civic dignitaries, forces personnel from RAF Leeming, North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, and the Poppy Appeal Ladies representing the Royal British Legion Poppy appeal.
Councillor Fortune said: “It is important that our Armed Forces past and present are shown support and gratitude for the huge personal sacrifices they have made and continue to make for our country.
“It was great to be finally able to have so many people represented at the ceremony today especially in our last year as Hambleton District Council – it made the event so much more special.”
