No increase in Garden Waste Subscriptions
Hambleton councillors are spreading some early Christmas cheer – they are looking to freeze the cost of garden waste subscriptions for the third year running.
Members of the authority’s Cabinet today (Dec 7) agreed to recommend to Full Council that the charge for emptying the green wheelie bin remains at £40 per bin for the 2022/23 service.
“The last 18 months has been hard for our residents, and we want to continue to help them recover from the effects of the pandemic,” said Cabinet Portfolio holder for Waste, Councillor Stephen Watson.
“By freezing the cost of these collections, residents get fortnightly collections of green waste for just £40 – it is excellent value for money.”
The fortnightly collection service runs from mid-February until the last week in November, with a special collection in January to take Christmas trees.
Last year saw more than 50% of the district’s properties enrol and over 23,500 licences bought. Almost 1350 licences were bought by residents opting to have multiple bins.
Members of Full Council will consider Cabinet’s recommendation on December 14.
