Shop local and support local businesses
A campaign to highlight the value of small businesses has won the backing of district councillors.
Small Business Saturday – which happens on the first Saturday of December every year – promotes small business success and encourages customers to shop local and support their local business communities.
Last year it is estimated that nationally around £1.1billion was spent on Small Business Saturday with 15.4 million people turning out to support it.
Hambleton District Council will be promoting the 2021 event on its social media channels by featuring businesses from across its market towns.
“Here in Hambleton we have a plethora of wonderful small local businesses, all of which are working extra hard to recover from the pandemic,” said Council Leader, Councillor Mark Robson (pictured).
“We are doing all we can to help them do that – we urge local people to support them not just on Small Business Saturday but every day by shopping local. It really will have a lasting impact on our local businesses.”
This year’s event – on December 4 – is the ninth to have been held.
