Sign up for garden waste service

Subscriptions for next year’s garden waste service are now open for residents
New and existing customers of the Hambleton District Council run scheme can sign up for the £40 a year fortnightly collection service at hambleton.gov.uk.
It is year four of the subscription service which last year saw more than 50% of the districts properties enrol and almost 22,500 licences bought. More than 1000 licences were bought by residents opting to have multiple bins.
“This service is extremely popular with our residents and despite the modest price rise this year, we are confident they appreciate the value this service provides and will stay on board,” said Cabinet Member, Councillor Stephen Watson.
“We believe it is excellent value for money and we hope everyone will take the opportunity to renew their licence early to be ready for the start of the 2020 collection year.”
The last garden waste collections for 2019 end on 6 December and will re-start in mid February. Christmas trees will once again be collected from subscribers in January either week commencing 6 or 13 - residents can check their bin collection days using the council’s website. Trees must be chopped up and placed inside the bin with the lid closed – trees left at the roadside or hanging out of bins will not be collected.
For more information or to subscribe visit hambleton.gov.uk or call 01609 779977.
- Properties participating in the current service must not remove their existing licence until the final collection in March 2020. Bins not displaying the correct licence will not be emptied.
- Residents subscribing for the 2020/21 scheme should receive their new licence by 1 March – if not they should contact the council. Residents purchasing after 15 February will receive licences within ten working days - they should be attached to their bin from 28 March 2020.
