Residents warned to ignore fraudulent notices

Residents of a small North Yorkshire village have been warned to ignore a notice claiming a prison is going to be built close to their homes.
Hambleton District Council has said the notices being spotted in Linton on Ouse – bearing the authority’s logo and address - are false. The notices claim that land at RAF Linton on Ouse is to be redeveloped as a high security prison.
“These notices are false and have nothing whatsoever to do with the Council,” said Chief Executive, Dr Justin Ives.
“We have made the police aware of them – and urge local residents to ignore the information contained within them.”
Anyone with any information should contact the police on 101 quoting reference number: 12190205475.
