Honour for former Councillor

Hambleton District Council has a new honorary alderman.

Councillors bestowed the title on former councillor Geoff Ellis last week.

Mr Ellis had been a member of the District Council – representing Easingwold for 32 years when he retired in May.  He served on the authority’s planning committee for 29 years with ten of those as the committee’s chairman.

Bob Baker a former councillor was also awarded a long service award for 20 years service at the meeting.

The awards were made at a meeting of the Full Council on Tuesday 17 September by the Chairman of the Council, Councillor Kevin Hardisty
