Businesses dressing windows for uci

Businesses across Northallerton are turning rainbow colours as they get ready to welcome the ‘world’ to the town in September!

They are busy dressing their shop windows with bunting and flags depicting the nations that will descend on the market town for the start of the men’s individual time trials of the UCI Road World Championships on 25 September.   The race will bring in some of the top cyclists from across the globe for the start outside the Town Hall.

Bunting is being raised across the route, and the town’s station is being spruced up to welcome visitors.

All the shop and business windows will be entered into a ‘best dressed competition’ to be judged next week (September 12) by Chairman of Hambleton District Council, Councillor Kevin Hardisty; and Town Mayor, Councillor John Forrest.   The winner will be announced on September 25.

Hambleton District Council is working with members of the towns BID (Business Improvement District) Northallerton Town Council, to bring the race to the town.
