Survey on Northallerton brings in mass response

Close to 200 people have had their say on a survey of Northallerton – and what it should look like in the future.
Local people, businesses and visitors were asked for their views as part of the process to create a blueprint for the market town.
Northallerton Business Improvement District (BID) is working with Hambleton District Council on the development of a design guide – as part of the council’s Vibrant Market Towns initiative.
It will detail how the town should look, determine what gives it character and help preserve what makes it unique. It will also steer improvements that enhance and build on these characteristics. It will be included in the council’s Local Plan which helps steer all future developments.
BID Manager, Graham Bell said: “The public consultation has clearly sparked a lot of interest and we’re delighted with the response. It shows how much people in Northallerton care about how their town will look in the years to come.”
He said a draft Design Guide is now being prepared based on the comments received - residents will have a further opportunity to comment on it later this year.
