Rain has continued to fall overnight as Storm Christoph continued to pass across our district.

Flood warning

Our crews have been working hard overnight delivering sandbags to residents at risk from flooding, and they will continue with this today.

This means there will be some delays to our garden waste collection service. Those scheduled for today from Thornton-Le-Beans, Borrowby, Knayton, Upsall, North Kilvington, Kirby Knowle, Cowesby, Kepwick, Over Silton, Nether Silton will now happen on Friday.

Garden waste collections scheduled to happen on Friday from Romanby and Northallerton will now happen on Saturday.

A limited number of Sandbags are available for collection from:-

  • Stokesley - entrance to Stokesley Depot, Ellerbeck Way
  • Northallerton - entrance to Northallerton Depot, Darlington Road
  • Thirsk Leisure Centre car park
  • Bedale Leisure Centre car park
  • Easingwold Galtres Centre car park

Please remember to only make journeys that are absolutely necessary. Before you leave, check the weather forecast and travel updates and make sure you plan your route.

Across North Yorkshire, some roads are closed and others are only passable with care.

It’s impossible to judge the depth of flood water and you could put yourself at risk if you attempt to drive or walk through it so please don’t.

More rain is forecast today so please stay home, stay warm and stay safe.
