Bedale welcomed Tour de Yorkshire race director, Christian Prudhomme, yesterday as he did a whistlestop trip round the route of this year’s race.
Together with Welcome to Yorkshire’s Peter Dodd, and 2016 TDY winner Thomas Voeckler he saw how communities are gearing up for the race.
They met with Justin Ives, the Chief Executive of host council, Hambleton District Council, and official TDY artist, Mackenzie Thorpe who has created a massive piece of land art close to Bedale. A heart has been created with trainers donated by the public in partnership with with Help for Heroes and Bedale High School.
And children from Mowbray School met them to highlight their work to make Bedale the first official Makaton town in the country. Makaton is a signing system used to aid speech, language and communication and people and businesses in the town have been learning elements of it, including how to sign the Tour de Yorkshire.
