Garden waste collections

Due to cuts in Government funding Hambleton District Council is required to find £1 million in savings each year. In 2016 the difficult decision to charge for garden waste was made at Cabinet and the chargeable service was later introduced in April 2017.

Collecting garden waste is not a statutory service that councils must provide.  The cost of providing the service is now balanced by the income generated each year from the garden waste service.

The annual subscription charge was set by councillors at £35 for the 2017/18 financial year and will continue at £35 for the 2018/19 service.
