Public open space, sport and recreation
The council adopted a Public Open Space, Sport and Recreation Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) in February 2011. The policy gives developers and the public up to date information on the financial contributions which the council will seek for the provision of open space, sport and recreation, which are directly related in scale and type of development, through section 106 agreements.
In response, the council has developed a system for identifying public open space projects that are eligible for receipt of section 106 monies (for off-site public open space provision) through locally produced Public Open Space, Sport and Recreation Action Plans. This will enable the council to make more strategic and efficient decisions when allocating funds.
