Funding

Funding is available through various sources. Although a lot of the funding is loan finance, there are some grant funding sources still available. There are a number of funds to access if you are setting up.

Business Network Support Fund

Grants of up to a maximum of £4,000 per business network are available to further support the development and effectiveness of the networks, improve resilience and increase business confidence.

Business Enterprise Fund

The Start-Up Loans scheme across North and West Yorkshire. Available to start-up and existing businesses run by people of all ages. If you are aged 18+ and are either looking to start-up in business or have recently started to trade and are still in the start-up phase of your business you can apply for a loan.

Finance Yorkshire

Loan funding for established or growing business or early stage business. Can fill a gap in funding where conventional sources of finance are insufficient or unavailable.

Funding Circle

Funding Circle is an online peer-to-business lending platform connecting businesses and investors, where businesses get fast business loans and investors earn returns on their investments. Funding Circle has funded almost £600m in loans to over 7,000 business since launching over five years ago, and has received financial backing from the Government-backed British Business Bank.

Business Growth Fund

Looking for management teams with a good track record, a proven business model and a desire to grow. We initially invest £2m–£10m of growth capital for a minority equity stake and a board seat we back both privately owned and AIM-listed, profitable companies typically with a turnover of £5m–£100m.

New Enterprise Allowance

A scheme that can provide money and support to help you start your own business if you are in receipt of certain benefits.

Innovate UK

For a business that needs help with something that’s a challenge, not just small change. For agri-food / built environment / space/water / waste / data innovators / inventors /Technology businesses.

DIT Yorkshire and Humber

DIT Yorkshire and the Humber, provide businesses with access to a regional network of International Trade Advisers who work closely with a global network of DIT advisers; ensuring that businesses are given the best advice and access to global export opportunities. 

Digital Advantage

Help for businesses in the North Yorkshire area to enhance their use of digital technologies

Enterprise Europe Network

EEN is a fully funded service that can help businesses to reach new markets, distributors or commercialise new ideas in Europe and beyond.

The Enterprise Europe Network helps EU companies to become more competitive, create new jobs, and ultimately support the overall growth of the European economy. As part of the Enterprise Europe Network North East, Teesside University can help your business make the most of the European marketplace. This can include:

  • developing business in new markets
  • meeting potential new business partners
  • sourcing or licensing new technologies
  • research and innovation services
  • EU finance and funding information
  • understanding and influencing EU markets, policies, regulations and initiatives advice on intellectual property and patents

The Princes Trust

Grants for micro, small and medium businesses being set up by people aged 18-24.

Federation of Small Businesses -  Membership offer

Benefit from up to £80 discount off your first years FSB membership.

Let's Grow North & East Yorkshire

Let's Grow North & East Yorkshire is a £4 million Regional Growth Fund programme managed by BE Group in partnership with Clive Owen LLP.

The programme provides grant support for capital investment and R&D projects that will create new, sustainable jobs in North Yorkshire, the City of York and the East Riding of Yorkshire.  Grant support is available for business expansion and diversification and is designed to help firms to expand their operations or to set up new establishments in the region.

The Carbon Trust Green Business Fund

Funding for eligible SME's to access energy saving training, cost saving assessments, implementation advice and capital support for the installation of energy efficient equipment.

 

Capital Allowances (HMRC)

 

Capital Allowances allow businesses to write-off the cost of certain capital assets against taxable income.
