An Energy Repayment Loan (ERL) is an interest free loan paid back on a monthly basis over a period of between six months to five years. The funding is available to help homeowners carry out essential energy efficiency works to their properties to address excess cold and fuel poverty.
Home owners can borrow from £300 up to £3,000 - which can be used for such works as; a new central heating system, replacement windows, top up loft and cavity wall insulation, additional radiators etc. All works will be carried out through the Swale Home Improvement Agency using approved contractors.
Additional payments are required to cover the initial set up and the Home Improvement Agency costs to oversee the works.
To qualify for assistance an applicant must:
- be aged 18 or over
- have a gross income of less than £25,000 per annum or be in receipt of Council Tax Reduction or a Means Tested Benefit.
