For Parliamentary elections Hambleton District Council is covered by two constituencies, Richmond (Yorks) and Thirsk & Malton.

Poll card and postal vote despatch dates differ between the constituencies please see below.

Poll cards

  • Richmond (Yorks) will be issued around 11 November
  • Thirsk & Malton will be issued around 14 November

You do not need a poll card to vote, so long as you are on the register.

Additional mailings of poll cards for those who register to vote in the run up to the election will be issued throughout the election up until 6 December.

Registering to vote

The deadline to apply to register to vote is midnight 26 November 2019. You can register online here Gov.uk register to vote 

You will need your National Insurance number. Please include an email address on your application if possible, so we can contact you electronically to confirm your registration or ask for any additional documentary evidence

Postal votes

If you are not able to vote at the polling station, you can apply to vote by post the deadline to apply is 5pm 26 November

  • Richmond (Yorks): If you had a postal vote in place by 30 October 2019, your postal ballot pack will be mailed around 27 November, or 22 November 2019 if you live overseas. If you apply for a postal vote after that date, up until the deadline at 5pm on 26 November 2019, then your postal ballot pack will be mailed around 29 November 2019
  • Thirsk and Malton: If you had a postal vote in place by 6 November 2019, your postal ballot pack will be mailed around 25 November, or 19 November 2019 if you live overseas. If you apply for a postal vote after that date, up until the deadline at 5pm on 26 November 2019, then your postal ballot pack will be mailed around 2 December 2019

Proxy votes

A proxy vote is where someone else votes on your behalf. To apply to vote by proxy to vote on your behalf, you need to apply by 5pm on 4 December 2019.

A candidate briefing session will take place at 5.30pm on Monday 18 November at the Civic Centre.
