The primary role of the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) is to identify potential sites for housing and development. It's main aim is to demonstrate that a five year supply of housing land is available, as well as a further five year supply of developable housing sites.
The first SHLAA and it's subsequent reviews has made a significant contribution to the Allocations Development Plan Document (DPD). Along with future SHLAAs, this will ensure that housing land supply is maintained and monitored as part of the Annual Monitoring Report process.
