In support of the Government’s initiative to tackle the shortfall in national housing, we are currently undertaking a review of all empty Council Tax properties in the area.
The council is required by law to maintain accurate Council Tax records. You may have received a letter advising that you are required to advise the Council if the property is occupied or not. Please complete the Empty Property Review form to update the property records for your address. You will need the property reference on the letter to complete the form and it will only take 5-10 minutes to complete.
If you do not respond to this enquiry, an inspection of the property may be carried out.
For the purpose of this review:
No one is living there and there is no furniture in the premises.
Unfurnished means that the property doesn't contain any furniture other than:
- carpets, curtains or blinds
- cookers, gas or electric fires
- fitted wardrobes or cupboards
- fridge, freezer, washing machine or dishwasher
No one is living there as their main residence but the property will contain items of furniture.
The property is furnished and it is someone’s main residence.
