Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant (OHLG)

The Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant (OHLG) is to support business rated premises in the Hambleton area, where the main service / activity (50% or more) is carried out at the rated premises and is in the hospitality, leisure, and accommodation sector as set by central government and listed below.
A business whose main function is to provide a venue for the consumption and sale of food and drink, such as:
|Food courts||Public Houses / pub restaurants||Restaurants|
|Roadside restaurants||Wine bars||Cafés|
Exclusions: Food kiosks and businesses whose main service (generating 50% or more of income) is a takeaway or adapted to offer takeaways during COVID-19 restrictions.
A business that provides opportunities, experiences, and facilities, for culture, recreation, entertainment, celebratory events, days and nights out such as:
|Casinos and gambling clubs||Cinemas||Museum and galleries|
|Stately Homes and historic houses||Theatres||Zoos and safari parks|
|Amusement parks||Wedding venues||Events venues|
|Nightclubs / discotheque||Arenas||Concert halls|
|Tourist attractions||Theme parks||Amusement arcades|
|Soft play centres||Clubs and institutions||Village Halls / scout huts|
Exclusions: all retail businesses, coach tour operators, tour operators and gyms and sports centres where physical exercise or training takes place.
A business whose main lodging provision is used for holiday and travel purposes, such as:
|Caravan parks||Caravan sites and pitches||Chalet parks|
|Coaching inns||Country house hotels||Guest houses|
|Holiday apartments||Cottage and bungalows||Campsites|
|Boarding houses||Canal boats||B&B’s|
|Catered holiday homes||Holiday homes|
Exclusions: Private dwellings, education accommodation, residential and care homes, residential family centres and beach huts.

Grants under this scheme will be available to businesses:
- based in the Hambleton area
- trading on the 30 December 2021
- occupying premises that are rated for business rates and are liable to pay rates on 30 December 2021 (including if your bill shows 100% relief) - you will need your account and property reference number
- whose main service and activity is carried out at the premises and is in the hospitality, accommodation and leisure sector which meets the government definition
- have not exceeded the subsidy allowance limits
Amount of one-off grant payable
- £2,667 for properties with a rateable value of is £15,000 or under on 30 December 2021
- £4,000 for properties with a rateable value over £15,001 and less than £51,000 on 30 December 2021
- £6,000 for properties with a rateable value of £51,000 or more 30 December 2021

All applicants must complete an application form to self certify that the business meets all the eligibility criteria.

To ensure that applications are dealt with quickly, some automation has been built into the process, so please ensure you have entered the required information accurately to reduce delays.
Hambleton District Council will carry out prepayment checks on businesses and may ask for further information to help us ensure that grants are paid to the correct recipients.
