2018

The Hambleton Business Awards is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the great business achievements of businesses in Hambleton. Anyone can submit a nomination for a worthy business or individual. Hambleton District Council hosted the awards ceremony at The Forum in Northallerton on 11 September 2018.

 

 

Apprenticeship Champion: Nathan Brown - Carlton Service Station

This was awarded to the apprentice who has developed most in the role since joining the business and has contributed most to the business.

Nathan is an apprentice funded through the district council, who has developed the most in the role and demonstrated great commitment to the business. 

Engaging Young Minds: David Smith - The Rotary Club Stokesley

Awarded to an individual or business most involved with schools and education providers. This could include engagement with primary, secondary, further or higher education providers. It could include time provided to work with schools, support for projects/curriculum providing work experience and placements.

David Smith and the Rotary Club Stokesley for the significant investment of time supporting young people at Stokesley School.

Northallerton Tesco was given a highly commended award in the Engaging Young Minds category for the work they have done as a large company engaging locally. 

Hambleton Champion: Richard Gladstone - The Connection Gallery Thirsk

Awarded to a business or individual that has championed Hambleton as a great place to do business. It could include acting as an ambassador for their local company or for other businesses promoting the area and encouraging others to work and run businesses in Hambleton.

Richard has brought galleries together across the area, promoting the district as an ambassador working with other businesses.

Innovation: Neue Schule Group Stokesley

Awarded to an individual or business demonstrating the most innovation with regards to marketing, design, manufacturing, performance of services or adapting to the changing market place. It could include improved manufacturing processes, promoting sustainability or the design of a product or service.

Neue Schule Group in Stokesley for their innovative horse bits, used by medal winners in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, and their ongoing research and development.

Best Customer Service: Fox Mouldings Ltd Thirsk

Awarded to a business or individual who puts customers at the centre of its service. It could include how the business or individual look after customers and go that extra mile in their services.

Fox Mouldings Ltd from Thirsk supplies bespoke quality mouldings to customers in the UK and overseas - they have been recognised as providing excellent customer service above and beyond what is required bringing more people to Thirsk.

Graduate Champion: Beth Ellin - Bow House Digital Ltd Easingwold and Laura Mellis - Emplaw Solutions Bedale

Awarded to a graduate who has developed most in the role since joining the business and has contributed most to the business.

Beth Ellin from Bow House Digital Ltd in Easingwold and Laura Mellis from Emplaw Solutions in Bedale are recognised as graduates funded through the district council who have contributed so much to the individual businesses.

Best Business Improvement District (BID) Business: Julie Hutson - Colin Hutson Accounting Ltd

Awarded to the business who has contributed most to the BID's values to improve Northallerton.

Julie Hutson of Colin Hutson Accounting Ltd recognised for all the time and energy she has provided to the steering group and board.

Most Accessible Business: Millings Residential Home Bedale

Awarded to the individual that has created the most accessible business for customers or clients with both physical and hidden disabilities.

The Millings residential home at Bedale for their talented staff, plus the level of care and involvement of the residents and families in the service they offer.

Vibrant Market Towns Ambassador: Sally Anderson

Awarded to the individual who has made the greatest impact last year to the vibrancy of Hambleton's markets or towns.

Sally Anderson for championing Northallerton as a vibrant market town, establishing events and services to support the town as an excellent place to do business.
