Climate Change

The Council along with Hambleton businesses and residents have an important part to play if nationally we are to achieve the UK targets of net zero CO2 emissions by 2050. In 2021 the Council produced it’s Climate Change Policy and Strategy both or which can be viewed here: 

We are committed to becoming Carbon neutral by 2034 and have already introduced changes such as low energy street lighting, electric vehicle charging points, home working leisure centre decarbonisation to name but a few.  However, we know we have a long way to go if we are to achieve our target. 

The council’s own carbon emissions for 2019/20 emissions are detailed below, the emissions are measured in tonnes in carbon dioxide (equivalent) tCO2e. :-
