Provision of a funeral to fulfil statutory duty under the Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984 Section 46
Reasons for decision
To fulfilling the Council’s statutory duty under Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984 Section 46 where the deceased has no insurance / relatives / friends / associates to make the arrangements.
Alternative options considered
This is a statutory duty. Three local funeral directors were asked to provide quotes for the burial and contract was awarded to the cheapest quote, in this case provided by Robinson & Parfitt Funeral Services.
