Reasons for decision
To fulfilling the Council’s statutory duty under Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984 Section 46 where the deceased has no insurance / relatives / friends / associates to make the arrangements.
Alternative options considered
This is a statutory duty. Three local funeral directors were asked to provide quotes for the burial and contract was awarded to the cheapest quote, in this case provided by Hill Brothers.
