The Apprenticeship Hub
The Apprenticeship Hub offers free and impartial apprenticeship advice and support to businesses based in York, North Yorkshire and East Riding.
The Apprenticeship Hub’s team of friendly advisers are on hand, free of charge, to provide a wide range of support, such as how to recruit an apprentice, choosing the right apprenticeship standard, finding the right provider, accessing available levy funds and incentives, and setting up and using the apprenticeship digital account.
The Apprenticeship Hub can also provide free support and training for leadership and management teams, and pre-apprenticeship and wraparound support for apprentices by offering a range of bespoke training courses and qualifications delivered by expert skills providers.
The Apprenticeship Hub is part funded by the European Social Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020, and is delivered in partnership with North Yorkshire County Council, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Calderdale College.
Apprenticeships - when should an employer advertise an apprenticeship vacancy?
Young people could be looking for an apprenticeship opportunity at any time during the year, on occasions students go into Further Education and then make a decision to change onto an apprenticeship.
Students generally leave school in June and if under 18 years old must be in employment or in education by September.

Incentive payments for employers who hire a new apprentice between 1 August 2020 and 30 September 2021
New National Insurance guide published
From April 2016 employers of apprentices under the age of 25 will no longer be required to pay secondary Class 1(employer) National Insurance contributions (NICs) on earnings up to the Upper Earnings Limit (UEL). This is provided that the apprentice is under 25 and is following an approved apprenticeship programme. In order to apply for the National Insurance relief employers need to provide evidence to HMRC, such as a written agreement between the employer, the apprentice and the training provider confirming the apprentice is on an approved scheme and the start and end date of the apprenticeship
