Hambleton District Council provides and maintains 2,275 off-street parking spaces throughout the District.
The majority are situated in the market towns of Northallerton, Thirsk, Bedale, Stokesley and Easingwold.
A car park is also provided at the village of Great Ayton. Parking charges apply to the majority of Council off-street car parks at Northallerton, Thirsk and Bedale. At Stokesley parking along the High Street is free under a two-hour disc parking scheme with charges applying to the Showfield long stay car park.

Payment at the Pay & Display machines for display tickets can be made via the coin slot which accepts 5p, 10p 20p, 50p, £1and £2 coins. The machines accept overpayment but do not supply change. Alternatively savings can be made by purchasing ParkCards discount cards - the scheme is described below.
On-Street Parking (North Yorkshire County Council)

In conjunction with the introduction of off-street parking charges new on-street parking restrictions have beenintroduced with 2 hours disc parking and resident parking permits Opens in a new window at the following streets:-
Northallerton - Crosby Rd, Ebor Court, L'Espec St, Grammar School Lane, Hatfield Rd, High St, Lascelles Lane, Malpas Drive, Malpas Rd, Quaker Lane, South Parade, Romanby Rd.
Thirsk - Croft View, Riverside Mews, Westgate.
Bedale - The Wynd, Wycar, Emgate.
The District Council acts as agents for North Yorkshire County Council in administration and enforcement of the on-street parking order along Kirkgate at Thirsk.

ParkCard Discount Cards
For regular users of the car parks, except for heavy goods vehicles, savings can be made by purchasing ParkCard short stay and long stay discount cards for use at the pay and display machines. Long-Stay ParkCard - £50 worth of tickets for £40

Purchase of a Long Stay ParkCard for £40 buys £50 of tickets from any of the long stay pay and display machines. The value on the card decreases as it is being used with information on the remaining value on the card shown on the pay and display machine screen prior to ticket purchase. There is no expiry period on the card and no limit to the number you may purchase. The card may be used at the Applegarth Long-Stay,Northallerton; Crosby Rd,Northallerton; Millgate,Thirsk; Nursery,Thirsk; Bridge St, Bedale; Auction Mart, Bedale; and Showfield, Stokesley car parks.
Short-Stay ParkCard - One ticket a day for 12 months.

For regular users of the Applegarth Short Stay, Northallerton; Forum,Northallerton; Thirsk Market Place and Marage,Thirsk car parks the Short Stay ParkCard offers savings over a 12 month period. At a cost of £40 the card is valid once a day for a ticket for the maximum period allowed in any of the short stay car parks. The 12 months validity period starts on first use at one of the short stay pay and display machines. There is an area left at the back of the card for you to note this date.
Disabled Blue Badge Holders
Many of the Council's car parks have specially marked spaces for disabled badge holders. Parking in these bays is free and unlimited provided a valid blue badge is displayed. Disabled badge holders will NOT be exempt from payment of parking charges if parked in standard bays.

Motor Cycle Parking
Some of the Council's car parks have specially marked areas designated for solo motor cycle parking. Parking in these bays is free and unlimited. Solo motor cycles may only park in the motor cycle designated areas at Applegarth Long Stay,Northallerton; Thirsk Market Place;and Bridge St, Bedale. Motor cycles with attached sidecars may park in standard bays under the charging conditions of the car park with the display ticket shown in the windscreen of the sidecar.
Heavy Goods Vehicles Overnight Parking at Northallerton
Heavy Goods Vehicles may park in the long stay section of the Applegarth car park at Northallerton between 6pm and 8am Monday to Saturday. The charges from 12 October 2009 will be a flat rate of £5 per parking period. HGVs are permitted to park for free during the period 8am Sunday to 8am Monday.
Free Coach Parking at Thirsk
At the Millgate Coach Park in Thirsk coaches are permitted to park for free between 7am and 11pm each day for a maximum period of 4 hours but with a no return within one hour of leaving.

Off-Street Disc Parking Scheme
(Stokesley High Street and Kirkgate, Thirsk)

The restrictions are monitored by a "Disc Parking" scheme where the motorist is required to display a parking disk indicating the arrival time of the vehicle.
The discs are available in most local shops and Tourist Information Centres and they are to be correctly set and clearly displayed on the front windscreen dashboard of the vehicle.

You commit an offence if you:
- Fail to display a parking disc
- Falsify or alter your arrival time
- Exceed the permitted parking time
- Return before the permitted return time
- Park outside a marked parking bay
- Park in a Disabled parking bay without displaying valid Blue Badge
- Park a vehicle exceeding the permitted weight
- Park in a suspended or prohibited parking bay
- Park a vehicle without a valid excise licence
- Sell, display or advertise goods.
The present Excess Charge is £50 with an additional £25 charge for late payment.
Excess Charge Notice Enquiries and Challenges
Enquiries and challenges to an Excess Charge Notice must be in writing and received at the main postal address within 14 days of the issue date of the notice.
If an enquiry or challenge is not received before that time, the applicant will lose the opportunity to pay the lower charge.
All correspondence must include the notice number, registration number together with your name and address.
Fixed Penalty Enquiries and Challenges
Enquiries and challenges to a fixed penalty notice must be in writing and received at the main postal address (or by email to parking@hambleton.gov.uk) within 14 days of the issue date of the notice.
If an enquiry or challenge is not received before that time, the applicant will lose the opportunity to pay the lower charge.
