Taxi Concessionary Fares

The Cabinet at Hambleton District Council have given approval for a taxi voucher scheme to be implemented which should mean a greater range of transport opportunities for those who need it most. The scheme commenced in April 2003 on the following basis:

Vouchers will be available for any member of public currently receiving Attendance Allowance or the Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance.

Members of the public will pay 30 (rural) and 15 (semi-urban) and receive vouchers worth 60 and 30 respectively.

Voucher booklets will contain 30 in 1 denominations.

A staggered take up of vouchers will be permitted for people eligible for two booklets (60 worth of vouchers) meaning the second booklet may be purchased at a later date.

The definition of rural and semi-urban will be determined by public records containing ward status.

Vouchers may only be used in conjunction with a valid bus pass as proof of identity.

Taxi firms and community car schemes taking part in the scheme will be re-imbursed by cheque within 14 days of receipt of the vouchers in the Civic Centre.

Vouchers will be replenished annually so long as the qualifying conditions are still met.
