Public Lighting

Hambleton District Council owns and maintains in excess of 3000 Public Lighting Units situated at various locations throughout the District.

The service is provided by the Design and Maintenance Section working under the Technical Services arm of the Planning and Environmental Services Department.

Fault Reporting and Attendance Service

You should provide as much information as possible to make sure the correct location and fault details can be passed to the maintenance contractor. Please provide:

Fault reports can also be given by telephone, or e-mail at the numbers and addresses detailed below or to the Civic Centre, in person, or by letter.

Standards for Attendance to Faults

Standard faults such as lights out are to be attended to within 5 working days of the report.
Emergency faults such as lights knocked over are to be attended to within 4 hours of the report.

New or Improvement Lighting Requests

Hambleton District Council recommends that any request for new or improved public lighting should be made through the local Parish/Town Council in order to ensure that the request has their support.

North Yorkshire County Council - Highway Lighting

Highway Lighting comes under the jurisdiction of North Yorkshire County Council and in general any lighting column that has a black number on a yellow background can be considered to belong to North Yorkshire County Council.
