Sustainable Community Plan for Hambleton

The Sustainable Community Plan for Hambleton was developed by the Hambleton strategic partnership after extensive consultation with partners and community groups.

It was adopted in 2006 and has lead to 'joined up' working arrangements and linkages with other HDC strategies - in particular the Local Development Framework .

This joined up approach was our unique selling point in our successful Beacon Authority Bid - Promoting Sustainable Communities through the Planning Process - and is directly linked to the priority themes in our Corporate Plan:

  • Prosperity - developing communities that flourish through full employment; improved standards of living; and accessible transport
  • Health - ensuring everyone enjoys an active life through a wide range of leisure and cultural pursuits and by improving health and lifestyles
  • Safety - making people feel safer by reducing crime and the fear of crime and by providing help to tackle community based problems
  • Environment and Housing - to maintain and enhance a Hambleton that is attractive, clean and safe with access to affordable housing
  • Citizenship - working to strengthen local communities by supporting, listening and ensuring that community needs are reflected in everything the district council does
