Swimming Lessons

Our four leisure centres in Hambleton at Bedale, Thirsk, Stokesley and Northallerton offer a full range of swimming lessons. From tots to adults; beginners to lifesavers; from that first splash to the perfect tumble turn, Hambleton District Council is committed to teaching swimming. Across the district we teach over 2000 children each week. We offer a variety of class types and operate proven swimming schemes to ensure continued development of swimming as a recreational activity or towards competition level.

Why learn to swim with Hambleton?

  • The Swim Kidz scheme is operated to the ASA National Plan for Teaching Swimming by fully qualified instructors giving total piece of mind.
  • Classes are small giving greater attention to each child from the teacher.
  • Schemes run throughout the year, including summer holidays.
  • Each child's progress is continually assessed during a course of lessons, with teachers available to answer your questions at any stage.
  • Certificates and badges are available at each stage of the scheme (additional charge).
  • Crash courses, Personal survival and Rookie Lifesaving courses are all available to consolidate and improve your child's progress with key skills for waterpolo and synchronised swimming also incorporated into the National Plan for the Teaching of Swimming.
  • Our prices are particularly attractive when compared with neighbouring authorities.
