Voluntary Sports Organisations
The Purpose of the Scheme
The grants to voluntary sports organisations scheme aims to assist voluntary sports clubs in the District to provide facilities and equipment which will increase participation or the quality of participation in sport. Eligible Projects
- Items of equipment
- Capital development including the extension, improvement or replacement of existing facilities and the provision of new facilities. Grant aid is not available for purely social accommodation such as lounge bars
- Improve the building to comply with parliamentary legislation
Retrospective applications will not be considered, however, in exceptional circumstances prior permission may be given to incur expenditure without prejudice to the grant application.
Ineligible Projects
- Interior furnishings including carpets and curtains
- General repairs and maintenance including pointing brickwork
- Bar facilities
- Team kits
Level of Grant Aid
- New Build - grants are discretionary and limited to 25% of the total cost of the project up to a maximum of 5,000
- Improvements - grants are limited to 25% of the total cost of the project up to a maximum of 3,000
Criteria
Grants will only be made available to Voluntary Sports Organisations if they:
- Offer public use at set published times, or
- Allow occasional bookings by local community groups
- Provide organised coaching opportunities for young people
- Are a fully constituted club
- Have a sports development action plan
Are CASC (Community Amateur Sports Clubs) registered if applicable
Timing of Applications
Applications for grants received by the Leisure Services Section are submitted for consideration by the appropriate Branch and Executive Committee of the Hambleton Sports Council prior to the Spokesperson for Health making the final decision. Applications are considered throughout the year.
How to Apply
As many sports projects require funding from a number of agencies to enable them to go ahead, potential applicants are advised to contact the Leisure Services Section at an early stage.
The Leisure Services staff have experience of working with other funding partners and may be able to offer additional information and advice that will be useful in project planning.
