Village Halls
The Purpose of the Scheme
The scheme seeks to assist with preserving, improving and, where necessary, extending existing Village Hall facilities in addition to providing new facilities.
Church Owned Community Halls
Applications relating to Church Owned Community Halls can now be considered for grant aid, under the Village Halls Grants Scheme where it can be clearly demonstrated that the hall is necessary to support existing demand for community activity and such demand cannot be met by similar expenditure on an existing Village Hall.
Applicants are also required to show that:
- There is a substantial level of non-church related usage or in cases where the hall is unusable due to its poor condition, an indication of anticipated usage once improvements have been made;
- Separate hall accounts are maintained to show all income and expenditure relating to the hall's operation;
- If, once having been offered a grant, any of the above criteria were to cease, there would be a requirement to repay the grant to the District Council in full.
In addition to the above, the existing Village Hall Scheme conditions as outlined on the leaflet are applicable.
