Residential care - adult
North Yorkshire County Council supports people who need help to maintain their independence. This will follow an assessment of their needs and, wherever possible, support will be provided in their own home.
Before you consider residential care it is important that you look at all the ways in which you could be supported to live in your own home. North Yorkshire County Council Opens in a new window can give advice and information about practical support; adaptations to your home; equipment which can help you to remain independent; systems which alert a responder service in an emergency and other options which you may feel are preferable to moving into residential care.
