-Housing applications

Hambleton District Council does not have any housing stock, however, Hambleton has joined the North Yorkshire Choice Based Lettings (CBL) Partnership which includes 7 out of the 8 local authorities in North Yorkshire.

The new lettings scheme will replace the existing lettings schemes of the authorities in the North Yorkshire Choice Based lettings Partnership and the new system is predicted to begin May 2011.

The proposed new lettings scheme will be based on customer choice. This means all available properties from a variety of landlords will be advertised and applicants will be able to request which properties they wish to be considered for.

Further updates regarding this process will be posted on our website as and when available.

Currently those wishing to be considered for social housing in the district should apply to each Registered Social Landlord or Housing Association to join their waiting list.

Generally, people housed by Housing Associations are those defined as being in 'housing need' but eligibility criteria may differ between Housing Associations.

The main social housing provider in the district is Broadacres Housing Association Opens in a new window.

There is huge demand on all types of housing within the district and this means that there are a large number of households already awaiting social housing. As at April 2010 the social sector housing stock was 5402 in Hambleton and over 1353 households were registered on waiting lists.

This goes to show that demand far out weighs supply and therefore this option may not be realistic for you.
