Activities for older people
The Council organises a range of activities for older people. Specific sessions for older people are included in each of the Leisure Centre programmes.
The Council also secured funding to run an eng-AGE into Sport programme for people over 50 which saw over 500 people registering to take part in a range of activities. There is still funding available to help organisations set up an over 50's club in sport or physical activity, or create an over 50's section of an existing club. If you are interested pleae contact the Active 4 Life Officer.
As part of the eng-AGE into Sport programme a listing for a range of activities that are ideal for keeping older people active has been produced - there are over 30 activities on the list from Zumba classes to tennis - please click here Opens in a new window to view the full list of activities.
If you enjoy gentle walks why not join Hambleton Strollers.
To search for sports facilities any where in England by a number of different ways visit the Active Places Opens in a new window website.
Visit Third Age Trust Opens in a new window website to search for details of your local University of Third Age (U3As) . U3As are self-help, self-managed lifelong learning co-operatives for older people no longer in full time work, providing opportunities for their members to share learning experiences in a wide range of interest groups and to pursue learning not for qualifications, but for fun.
