Protection of vulnerable adults
Hambleton District Council recognises that all vulnerable adults have a right to protection from abuse. The Council takes seriously its responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable adults. The Council has recently adopted a Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Policy Opens in a new window.
Some adults are less able to protect themselves than others and some have difficulty making their wishes and feelings known. This may make them vulnerable to abuse. They may also be vulnerable and in need of care services by reason of mental health problems, physical or learning disability, age or illness. The Council has adopted a Statement of Assurance Opens in a new window which sets out the Council's commitment to protecting vulnerable adults.
You may be concerned that an adult is at risk of abuse because someone has told you something; or you have seen or heard something that makes you feel uncomfortable or uneasy about the care of a vulnerable adult. You may be being abused yourself and need help to stop it happening.
If you have a concern for a vulnerable adult contact North Yorkshire County Council's Opens in a new window Social Care Team on 0845 034 9410
