Fostering

Family problems sometimes make it impossible for children to continue living with their parents. In some cases children have been removed from home on the orders of a court and need to stay in a safe place. In other cases, parents may find that a troublesome teenager has become unmanageable, or the parents of a child with a disability may need a break.

All have one thing in common - they are going through a crisis in their lives, and need patient carers who can give them love and understanding.

North Yorkshire County Council Opens in a new window want carers who can look beyond the surface, listen to the child's needs and work with both families and professionals to help the child. The key for our carers is to recognise the causes of young people's behaviour and help them to deal with this.
