Refuse - litter - removal

Operational Services is responsible for cleaning the streets and removing litter. We have a large mechanical sweeper, mini sweepers and manual sweepers carrying out this work. Sweeping/litter picking is carried out on a rolling programme with areas requiring most attention cleaned more frequently. The main town centres are cleaned by manual sweepers in conjunction with mini sweepers.

Often communities will undertake to carry out litter picking in their area and as a service the Street Scene team will provide support. We will provide high-viz vests, bags, litter pickers and other equipment and also remove the waste.
