Recycling Bring Banks - Household Plastic Packaging
Banks are available to recycle household plastic packaging and can be found at the following recycling centres:
- B & Q, Northallerton
- Applegarth, Northallerton
- Auction Mart Car Park, Bedale
- Tesco, Thirsk
- Galtres Centre, Easingwold

Plastic takes up a lot of space in the dustbin but by recycling just one bottle we can save enough energy to power a 60 watt light bulb for 6 hours.
There are many types of plastic in use but only those made from polymers 1, 2 and 3 can be accepted in the plastic bank.
| Please look at the bottom of the container and see what number is in the triangle, if the number is any higher than 3 then it CANNOT be recycled and will contaminate the bank. | ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Please remember to wash, remove tops and squash the bottles before placing in the bins. Plastic recycling is expensive - bins are emptied twice a week - so the more we can get more into the banks the better.
Please note, plastic bottles only are accepted in the kerbside collection scheme (blue box).
